COMMENTS: 

Originally introduced during the 1960's / Vietnam era, the M-2205 (NSN #5110-00-162-2205) is the current issue and still widely in use by US military as well as NATO forces around the world.  The nickname "M-2205" is simply an abbreviation of its longer, government issued stock number.

This knife is extremely sharp right out of the package. It has a proper weight and "feel" to it, the blade and tool action is what we call "tight and right," yielding a firm snap with no wobble or play.   

M-2205 makes a fine everyday carry (EDC) or utility knife aboard the ship, with its all-stainless construction and assortment of tools. It does well in the galley, chart table or tool bag, and it can worn on the belt if used with the sheath.
