BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

“Salute to Schooners” · 10:00-12:00
On the water, schooners and other vessels will “fire” cannons, horns, etc. On land, students from Baltimore City schools will sing and play a musical tribute to the USA. To confirm your participation or for more information, please contact us at maryland@gcbsr.org
Open Docks · 1200-1400 and 1700-1900
Dockside viewing at Anchorage Marina.
Sailor’s Potluck Dinner · 19:00-22:00
A new tradition because we had so much fun with this last year. Bring a dish/drinks or other food items to share with the captains and crews of the other vessels! Weather permitting, the event will be held at the end of the main pier by the grills and umbrellas. Rain site is under the parking garage overhang.

Education Program · 0900 Hours · Selected schooners host area students for a hands-on learning experience in Baltimore.
Open Docks · 1000-1400 Hours · Schooners may be viewed dockside at Anchorage Marina.
ALL SCHOONERS to be docked in Baltimore by 1200 hours.
Captains’ Meeting and All Hands Briefing · 1300 Hours · In the Boater’s Lounge at Anchorage Marina. The captains of all vessels racing to Norfolk MUST attend this meeting.
Parade of Sail · 1600 Hours · An opportunity for all of the beautiful schooners in the race to show off in Baltimore. Cast off ca. 1600 and the parade officially begins at 1700. The public is invited to view the schooners from the Canton, Fells Point, Harbor East and Inner Harbor shorelines. Spectator vessels are reminded to please allow ample room for the vessels to maneuver safely.
All Hands Party · 1900 Hours · Buses depart Anchorage Marina parking lot at 18:45. Party will be held at the Polish Home Club in Fells Point (512 S Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21231) – same place as 2015. This is a private (invitation only) party for captains, crew, sponsors and volunteers at a location to be determined.

Skippers’ Meeting · 0630 Hours in the Boater’s Lounge· All participating schooners MUST have formal representation or risk disqualification. Captains may not delegate attendance.
Cast-off for the Start · 0730 Hours · The distance from the Baltimore docking area to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Annapolis and the starting line area to its south is about 21 NM. Spectator vessels are reminded to please allow ample room for the vessels to maneuver safely.

Race Start · 1200 Hours · The race begins just south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge near Annapolis as a magnificent gathering of schooner-rigged vessels begin their adventure down the Chesapeake Bay. Spectator vessels are reminded to please allow ample room for the vessels to maneuver safely.

Deadline for Calling in Finish Time · 1200 Hours · See Racing Rules and Sailing Instructions.
Pig and Oyster Roast Awards Ceremony · 1300-1700 Hours · This a private party, by invitation only, at Freemason Harbor, Norfolk, VA for captains, crew, sponsors, volunteers and supporters. The race results will be announced and awards will be presented.
Schooner Social · 1700-2100 · We all like meeting other classic boat sailors and seeing each other’s boats. Captains and crew are encouraged to host those from other vessels and show them all the neat things that you love about your boat!to All are encouraged to knock on the hull of a vessel you would like to get to know and wait to be asked aboard.
Sailors’ Evening and Sea Chantey Sing-along · 2100-2400 Under the tents. All are encouraged to come and lend your voice! Chanteys are about having fun, not perfect pitch. Songbooks provided and possibly discount drinks for those wearing Race Shirts!

Captains’ Meeting · 0730 Hours · Schooner captains meet at place to be determined to discuss the race results.
All Hands Breakfast · 0900 Hours · Schooner captains and crews gather at place to be determined for breakfast to share some sea stories and say a fond farewell to volunteers, sponsors and fellow sailors. This event is not open to the public.

Education sails / dockside · 0900-1600 · , at Nauticus, 1 Waterside Dr, Norfolk, VA. Schooners are encouraged to continue the education experience and those with commercial licenses will be running charter day sails from the Nauticus docks.
